the Axishirsch lives in India and Sri Lanka. it reaches 95 cm of withers-height and a weight of 100 kg. The legs are wise high, the neck appears thickly, and the duster is rather long. The sincerely bay fur is adorned by white stains. Underside, throat and the face-pack are whitish-yellow.
The antlers has one deeply beginning, powerful Augsprosse, the lyre-shaped bent pole finishes in a fork, whose fore branch is longer than the rear one.
Habitat The Chital always looks for the proximity of rivers. Parklands with grass-halls and dense hedges are preferred that however the Axishirsch goes also in forests and jungles.
Way of life Axishirsche form large herds under leadership of an adult stag. In contrast to the Sambarhirsche occurring in the same region, this type is active also on the day.
The Axishirsch has many enemies, tigers, leopard, consider strip-hyena, red-dog, gold-jackal and swamp-crocodile one of them.

Since it itself in captivity in middle widths, as they place its calves in its home, independently from the seasons verpaaren, here also during the winter.
