This race was bred as hunting dog in the Congo. As it was shown the first time in the London Cruft's Dog show in 1937, it provided big sensation.
In arousal, the Basenji doesn't bark, it gives a yodeling sound of itself sooner. it is clever, affectionate and headstrong.
