the shoulder-height of this very much grazilen Bleichböckchen amounts approximately 60 cm, its weight reaches 10-20 kg; its smooth fur is oberseits tawny until bay, the underside knows. A black, bare skin-stain is under the ear. At the wrists (front-knees), hair-tufts stand. One pair point-glands exists. The horns are straight and thin. The females are horn-free, they have 4 teats.

Spread, habitat Oribis still live quite in large numbers in Africa south from the Sahara. they prefer grass-savanna and light bush-savanna in levels and hill-country; they are usually densely at the water. Bleichböckchen eat grass, but also herbs and foliage.

Way of life Usually, one finds the Oribi in pairs, occasionally in small herds. The precincts are marked by excrement-pile. At the escape, the animals with stiffly stretched front-legs jump up into the air. Such sentences become several times repeated, like like with the gazelles. Escaping Bleichböckchen beat also hooks. They give a warning-whistle of itself on that occasion and snort audibly. Oribis beat the tail on the escape upward.

Reproduction The Tragzeit amounts to 7 months. The female places 1 or 2 kids.
