in the thicket of the sub-growth from brushland-ships and forests of Australia, Tasmania and New Guinea lives the Filander. they position solid changes there, that lead like tunnel through the dense, high grass and the bushes. They are excellently protected through it against view from above. These small kangaroos, who occur in 4 types, have a vertex-height of 53-77 cm upright sedentary. its dense, soft fur often is nicely colored. That frequently turned into the undoing for them. On the Australian mainland, they are out wiped in many areas. So the Rotbauchfilander (Thylogale billardierii) only is widespread on Tasmania today, and the Neuguinea-Filander (Thylogale brunii) occurs only on New Guinea. Sometimes, they make themselves as forest-pests unpopular, and if they attack fields in larger number, they prepare considerable damage.

Way of life During the day, they are in the thicket mostly and come only in the morning and in the twilight out, in order to look for food. they eat grass, herbs and foliage mainly. They participate very watchful. With the lowest concern, they knock like rabbits to the warning with the rear-feet on the ground and escape into the hedge in fast, wide sentences back.

Unfortunately, one knows only little about the way of life of these animals. they are very shy, and its observation therefore is difficult.
