the first known Rex-Katzen of the world was born by 1930 in king-mountain (East-Prussia). It was three little tomcats from the same throw. It therefore have deal inherit its curls for itself about a spontaneous-mutation, that three little brothers had. The German Rex is the eldest Rex-Rasse of the world consequently. another lured cat was revealed to 1947 in Berlin. With this cat, its name was little lamb, the breeding of the German Rex began. the first German Rex was issued to 1964 in Dresden at an exhibition and caused a big stir with public and exhibitors.

The German Rex has only one very small breeder-circle and is accordingly rare.

Allen Rex-Katzen together is the curly, waved fur. Through the absence of the Grannenhaare, the fur touches soft and satin. It is short and plush-good. The curl-development often is finished only with two years. The German Rex has the longest and densest fur from all the Rex-Katzen. It is no bald places, which can occur with the Devon Rex and the Cornish Rex quite, allowed. The whiskers are bent shorter than normal and easy. It is all fur-colors allowed. The body is from middle size and length. it shall powerfully and muscular, but not massive or clumsy is. The breast is rounded and powerful in the profile. The back is straight. The legs are relatively fine and from middle length. The feet are well distinctive indicating an oval form. The tail is middle-long, from a middle base easily tapered to a roundish top. it is well hairy. The head of the German Rex is rounded, with good width between the ears, a powerful chin and good cheeks developed. The nose expels an easy one stop on. The eyes stand in good distance by the nose-line, rather farther outside as inside. they are from middle size, opened well and approximately, from shining color, which harmonizes to the respective fur-color, should be. The ears are moderate-sized, broadly easily rounded at the base and at the top. The outside is with occupies fine hair densely, the inside is only easily hairy.

it is a pure housing-cat, which it has gladly warmly. The German Rex is intelligent and active.
