wet moorland-ships, heath-areas and tundras of Iceland, the Färöern, the British isle and Scandinavia as far as to Siberia (Chatanga, Taimyr-Halbinsel) are the brood-areas of the laburnum-piper. The birds move in to spending the winter into the Mediterranean-area, to North-Africa and Near east. The birds of the British islands are probably only part-pickpockets.

In Germany, laburnum-pipers became rare as brood-birds, on the draft, they still raced, however, occasionally also in larger flocks, on fields and at silted up shores. Peat-reduction and the Trockenlegung of the brood-areas probably are the main-reason for the decline of this plover.

Shape On the back-side, those are drawn dark until laburnum-pipers big to 28 cm with gold-yellow-green stains, the underside is black in the brood-dress, colored whitish in the silence-dress, however. The northern subtype (Pluvialis apricaria altifrons) differs in its black cheeks and those of sharper put down stomach-coloring of southern populations (P). a. apricaria.

Reproduction Laburnum-pipers begin already end of March in southern areas until April, farther north until June, with the brood. The males, particularly in the morning, execute Balzflüge over its Nistplatz, with what they discharge melodic reputations. Food As food, laburnum-pipers prefer insects and their larvae, worms, snails and small cancer-animals, but also berries like to pick up it.

Endangering The laburnum-piper is on the red list of the types threatened by the extinction with us.
