the Guerezas is known from the fashion-world, because the lady of world carried a "monkey-fur", that was won from the long-haired fur of these beautiful jungle-inhabitants, in the years before the World War I. This fashion-addiction almost led to the going out the East-African Guerezas. Came Z so. B. 1892 no less as 175 000 "silk-monkey-furs" on the European market.
Spread The Guereza lives as far as to Ethiopia in in tropical rain-forests also like in the savanna-timberland south from the Sahara.
Way of life Beside all the beauty, the white side-mane serves a quite important purpose. First, it is a type Fallschirm namely, that it enables up to 15 m of long Gleitsprünge, that therefore lead to the deeper place from higher. Before the start of such Gleitsprüngen, the animals see-saw on the branch like on a trampoline, start and immediately extend poor and legs. After short time, the front-body lowers more strongly than the backside, and the landing is aimed at in a type's glide on the more deeply situated branch. Reproduction Also at the reproduction, there are hardly rival-fights. The combination-funny females and males isolate themselves something of the troop and look after a type of "commune-marriage" some days long. The females of several males let themselves mate with one after the other on that occasion. Also before the birth, the mother holds something open for itself in company of a male from the group off, comes back with the newborn into the protection of the horde, however. The baby clings at the mother's stomach and reaches into the long flank-hairs on that occasion.
At the escape, the mother holds the child with a hand to the stomach supporting pressed. Slowly this close child-mother-relationship comes off with approximately 5 weeks, and the young climbs meeting the environment playfully and so also on other females and males of the horde these like to obviously tolerate what.
Endangering The continuances of the Guereza recovered largely from the former prosecution today so that the animals rather frequently are again meanwhile.
