this American race was the inadvertent result of an attempt to generate a Siamese with Abyssinian-insignia. its beautiful spotted fur, its Tabby-Gesicht and its similarity with a small ocelot immediately excited admiration. So, breeding-lines were set up very quickly for these cats. Cats later then were one-crossed short-hair American in the original breeding by Abyssinian and Siamesen in order to increase the number of the colors. in 1987, this cat attains it Champion-status.

The Ocicat has a spotted fur and a Tabby-Gesicht. The similarity with a small ocelot cannot withhold it. its fur is short, shiny, fine, close-fitting and possesses a Ticking of several ribbons, with what clearly should contrast from the light background the somber spot.
