Pallaskatze (Manul)

Pallaskatze (Manul)Scientific name:
Otocolobus manul

Natural spread:
Turkey

Peter Pallas described the Manul as first.

Erroneously, it suspects, this cat would be the predecessor of the long-haired Persian-cat. Also with it Turkish Angora was suspected the Manul from some as ancestor earlier. And this only because of its long fur, its descended physique and the undoubtedly flattering countenance.

its fur is just as long at the undersides as at the sides and the back. (Gao et al. 1987). it occurs in two colors. With some animals, what yields one silvery frostily gleaming appearance, the hair had a reddish Touch again white tops others. The fur-color seems to stand in dependence of the habitat.

In the north, the silvery animals more frequently come the fuchsfarbenden before and in the south. The physique is it compact a black Bänderung with short legs has. The tail is thick, short, about. 3/4 of the length, and black geticked. its weight fluctuates between 2 - 4,5 kg (Pocock 1939a) of Heptner and Sludskii in 1972. Gao et al. 1987).
