the Sotalias is dolphins, who live in flat coast-waters and big rivers. they are limited on the northeastern South America and perform at the coast of São Paulo in Brazil as far as after Colombia here. Furthermore they populate the Amazon and its numerous influxes and are therefore called also Amazonassotalias. they are not to be confused with the Amazon-dolphin (type Inia), with whom they properly often are socialized.

Shape Sotalias belong to the smallest representatives of the whales. Coast-populations clearly gain a size of 1,8 m, that animal of the rivers remains, with maximum, however, smaller 1,6 m. It is about a penetrated type with extended beak, that clearly takes off from the roundish melon. The pinballs and flukes are big and wide. it back-Finn is virtually triangular. Each jaw-half carries 26-35 teeth.

Way of life The Sotalias undertake hikes regularly; at high water-stand, they also advance as far as in seas. Sotalias live sociably in smaller troops, with what they frequently swim in exact formation densely, dives and appears approximately twice per minute to the Luftholen. they became several times with over meter-high air-jumps observes.

Occasionally Sotalias pick up probably also cancer-animals, however, fish are its main-food.

Continuance Until now, no continuance-estimates exist, however, one assumes that the animals rarely are not before the Brazilian coast.
