the Trauerschnäpper (here a male in the brood-dress) is a representative of the Fliegenschnäpper, widespread in Central Europe.
The brood-dress of the males is black-and-white with us that corresponds the silence-dress the females sooner. Males always are equipped with a white forehead-stain. The type can be distinguished from other Schnäpperarten (with exception of the semi-ring and Halsbandschnäppers) at the white wing-bandage.
The Trauerschnäpper is a long-route-pickpocket, that spends the winter mainly in the tropical Africa.
Trauerschnäpper are cave-breeders. they build its nest in tree-caves, gladly also in Nistkästen. The nest-material consists of grass-stalks and coarse bast-fibers, with what a large variety is recognizable at used materials. The deep, solid nest-hollow is from-dressed with feathers. The nest-size amounts to 6-7 eggs, which are brilliantly monochrome pale-blue.
Foliage - mixes and needle-forests, as well as hat-forests, parks and big gardens are lived in preferentially.
Above all flying insects serve as food. At the autumn-train, also fruits are consumed.
