this comes Turkish from the present-day Ankara in Turkey Angora. Probably, it is the first long-hair-cat, which appeared in Europe. This constructs Angora the ancestors Turkish much of essentially more known races forest-cat like for example Norwegian today, Maine Coon and not least also the Persian. Once a nearly priceless treasure, the Angora-cat suddenly lost beginning of this century interest exactly because of its, no extreme of belonging to qualities. it rarely became in Turkey and died out practically in the rest of the world. As the Turkish government if it realized, that its national-cat was threatened by the extinction acutely, the race was put under national species-protection and the export of white cats was prohibited. Through the activities of the Zoo's in Ankara, it could survive since it would have died out otherwise meanwhile. Since regularly free-living animals from Turkey are one-bred, this race remains spared before Ãœberzüchtung and degeneration of the animals.

The Angora-cat becomes monochrome, with Tabby and bred in two colors. The color extends from white to dun. The Angora-cat has a half-long, fine, silken fur. It has the inclination to be wavy. The cat should have a good and stout neck-frill. The body is moderate-sized, lithe and athletic. The legs are long and slim, the front-legs somewhat more shortly than the hind legs. its paws are small and round. The tail is long and pointed tapered. its head is small until moderate-sized, wedge-shaped with a long nose. its ears are big, broadly at the base and upward pointed tapered. The eyes are slanted-put big, almond-shaped and easy. The eye-color can blue, yellow, orange or amber-colored is.

This is Turkish a friendly, active, intelligent cat, which is inclined always joked, Angora. it is a distinct water-friend. its fur doesn't have any sub-wool and is very easy-care consequently, it should nevertheless be combed regularly.
