big paradise-bird

big paradise-birdScientific name:
Paradisaeidae apoda

Natural spread:
Australia

the males of the big paradise-bird performs courtship display only on certain trees. Mostly, several perform courtship display on a tree simultaneously. The splendor-plumage becomes more and more richly with increasing age of the bird and shining.

The big paradise-bird or Göttervogel (Paradisaea apoda) owe its Latin Artnamen, the "foot-lots", to a legend, after which the birds hover in the air its whole life, spends and should live from the dew.

The big paradise-bird has especially powerful branch-clutch-feet; its wings are little suitable for persevering and fast flight on the other hand. However, its flight-fortune suffices for its habitat and its way of life in the jungle.
