brook-troutScientific name:
Salmo trutta fario

Natural spread:
fast flowing waters

in fast flowing, cool waters of Western Europe as far as to Scandinavia and Finland is a stand-fish the brook-trout. In the south, its spread-area is enough as far as after Italy and North-Africa (Morocco, Algeria). The coloring this often only 25 cm of reaching forms shifts strongly; they are darker than sea and sea-trouts altogether and adapt itself to the underground of the residential-area to some extent: There are also silver-light copies, that are colorfully speckled!

Young brook-trouts, whom one abandoned in a lake and in the sea, assumed the color of the sea and sea-trouts completely here and grew up just as fast as those, with what they surpassed its relatives in the brook far. Hereby the supposition is confirmed that the 3 forms of the European trout are merely environmental appearances of a type.
