croissants

croissantsScientific name:
Sciuridae

Natural spread:
global occurrences

the croissant-family puts the largest part of the types from the croissant-relationship. The croissants are divided in two subfamilies, to the one into the earth and tree-croissants (Sciurinae) and to the other into the Gleithörnchen (Petauristinae).

Croissants become mouse-big until cat-big. While the Gleithörnchen are (with big night-animal-eyes) extremely night-active animals, the earth and tree-croissants are mainly day-active. One considers altogether 44 types with 380 types one of the croissants. As prototype, only the broadly known squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) is called here.
