gray-bunting

gray-buntingScientific name:
Emberiza calandra

Natural spread:
means - / Southern Europe, North-Africa, west-Asia

co 18 cm of total-length is the gray-bunting the biggest of your type. it is given a home in means and Southern Europe, North-Africa and west-Asia. With its dun and striped plumage, the sexes are not to be distinguished externally, probably however at the chant of the male, typical for all alto-world-buntings, that is to be heard also in the winter. The preferred habitat is wasteland, usually in the surroundings of culture-landscapes. The question is unsolved whether the males actually drive "polygamy": It is described that a male is combined up to seven females for itself in a brood-period as well.
