mole-rat

mole-ratScientific name:
Tachyoryctes

Natural spread:
East-Africa

the type of the mole-rats (Tachyoryctes) is given a home in East-Africa. Some types prefer sandy areas, other high-situated savannas and again other moist-forests.

they live mainly underground and aim with its short powerful grave-legs of prolonged construction-systems. The mole-rats gain lengths of 18-25 cm and only are consequently half as big as its near relatives, the bamboo-rats, that they see quite similar. The mole-rats are night-active and live mainly from roots of all the type.

If a mole-rat is attacked for herself, it can defend herself very well with its denture. Over the reproduction is not much known. Presumably, the female brings only a young to the world, which is colored very gloomily.
