the shape of the roller-bear resembles that of the Makibären, however, something is penetrated and short-legged. The fur is very densely and together with-nicely, oberseits brownish, unterseits sallow. Since however, also the animals of a narrower region vary very strongly, it is virtually impossible to boast the fur-coloring of the roller-bears more exactly. The most conspicuous one of these small-bears is its coloring-variety but the gripping-tail virtually body-long with almost 50 cm however not yet, that taper from the basis against the top gradually and are equally shortly hairy round. This gripping-tail serves the animals, immediately that equipped marsupials, as 5, with roller-truancy. Be able to anchor hand, with which the roller-bears distinguished themselves, in the branches of its abidance-trees. Also, they help the nimble movement in this habitat with the full sole and something after inward landed, with strongly bent and very sharp claws of equipped feet, whose toes are half interconnected with elastic skins.

Spread The roller-bear lives in means and South America's tropical forests as single type of its type as far as to a height of 2500 m.

Nutrition The roller-bear possesses this among the small-bears at the most strongly reduced fang. it lives with it in the most important thing of sweet, ripe fruits like wild figs, avocados, mangos and guavas. As well it takes soft-shell nuts and hunts insects, who take second place, however, to the vegetable food. Very gladly it excludes bee-nests in order to reach the honey and uses its sharp claws with it.

Habitat The treetops, in which they represent the day-practicing Kapuzineraffen South America at night, are the habitat of the roller-bears. they live individually there, in pairs or in smaller groups, seems to have only little social cohesion, however.

At the march of the treetops, the roller-bear only loosens his tail wound around a branch if it found solid hold with its feet. Not rarely, the animals also hang down kopfab of a branch only at tail and hind legs and consume a fruit, that it hold between its front-paws, on that occasion. How useful the tail is in the trees as clamp-organ for the bracing, so however it doesn't serve as gripping-organ, that can along-get food, for example, as this is the case with some gripping-tail-monkeys. As well, the tail of the roller-bear lacks also the formation of the gripping-calluses, that lets the tail of those monkeys become tastempfindlich so exceptionally.

Endangering In closed forest-areas, roller-bears still are rather frequent, however they are endangered particularly in Central America through forest-clearances.
