co four meters the longest, though slimmest representative of the South-seals is the sea-leopard, who got its name after the irregular, off leopard-similar drawing of its fur.

Nutrition Furthermore, its name indicates its predatory way of life. As loners or at the reproductive-time in September until November also in pairs living, the animals hunt particularly penguins and the young of other seals beside fishing. For this reason, the sea-leopard possesses also the "carnivore-most typical" denture under its relatives with powerful, long cuspids.

Reproduction After a Tragzeit of approximately 8 months, the boys were born like with the Weddellrobbe and the crab-glutton on the pack-ice and approximately two months are suckled.

Habitat Sea-leopards are inhabitants of deeper Meereszonen like the other South-seals. Maybe this is also a reason that the South-seals were not brought at the edge of the extermination as one of the few seal-groups until now yet. An immediate threat through the activities of the human being doesn't exist until now.
