the type Lagenorhynchus includes 5 types, among them the white-side-dolphin (Lagenorhynchus acutus) the white-muzzle-dolphin (L). albirostris, and the white-strip-dolphin (L). obliquidens.

Shape they are long flippers, 10-50 cm high back-Finns and flukes of 30-60 cm of span, 1,5-3 m long with 30 cm. A 1,9 m long female surged 75 kg.

From the ordinary dolphins (dolphins), with whom they often are socialized in big schools, these dolphins differ in its shorter muzzle (5 cm long) and the more pointed fins. 22-45 teeth stand on each side of the waiter and lower jaw. Often meet to gigantic schools of 1000-1500 animals white-sides and white-muzzle-dolphin.
