co the wolverine faces us the far biggest and heaviest representative of the Wieselartigen, to which is only been superior in length by the giant-otter, who clearly remains in the weight under the wolverine, however, among the martens. In its appearance, the wolverine stands brown-bear (bears) between the tree-marten (martens) and it. it becomes heavily up to 20 kg and reaches a body-height of approximately 45 cm. Including the 15 cm long tail, it becomes up to 1 m long. its fur is brown, the forehead and cheeks as well as a wide strip from the shoulder blade to the tail-root are sallow-knows.

Nutrition This magnificent marten of a wrong translation of the Scandinavian "Fjäl-Fräs" owes the name "Wolverine" what means so much like "rock-cat." Now, elks, reindeers, foxes and other martens are among its victims. But also all sorts of smaller loot-animals partially even dig out it from its camp under the snow, so for example snow-hares, squirrels, mice, Auer and snow-chickens. However not enough, it doesn't leave also human settlements unshorn. it plunders downfalls, breaks into log cabins and devours everything edible there. These qualities and the fact that is rather bear-nicely shaggy, even if very soft fur is not especially sought-after, necessarily doesn't do it to the friend of the resident people, that consider it only tiresome robbery-game. Since it lets himself kill only heavily through the human being, however, and also the bigger carnivores rather avoid it because of its well distinctive Stinkdrüse, its continuance is not yet threatened.

Way of life As already emerges from the portrayals of the food-habits of the bear-marten, it is an inhabitant of big forests, in fact in the north of Eurasia and America. it lives in a very big one, until area including to 2000 km2, that it marks again and again with its hikes at certain places with excrement and scent-brands, like all martens as a loner the largest part of the year. it doesn't live in any solid holes within its gigantic territory but quarrels after demand of briefly dug earth or snow-pits.
